The title of this post is a line from the film, “We Bought A Zoo,” starring Matt Damon and Scarlett Johansson. The movie is inspired by a true story about a widower with two children who takes a leap of faith for the future by buying an ailing zoo complete with a decrepit house. What’s seems impulsive, even crazy, comes to heal and unite this family.
“Twenty seconds of courage” becomes a mantra in the film.
I love this line for what it promises and infers. Everything in my experience reinforces that we are central to opening new possibilities in our lives. One change fuels the next, just like a domino effect, and whether minute or large, that’s the real upside of change—hope.
On the eve of a new year, this seems an auspicious a wish as any: that we tap our confidence and desires and live vividly and with intention.
