About Me
I’m a writer specializing in personal essays, health and lifestyle articles, and general interest features about people who rise above adversity. I’ve also written travel and business stories. My work has been seen in national magazines like Woman’s Day, MORE, Marie Claire, SELF, and National Geographic Traveler; and regional media like 5280 Magazine, Colorado View, and The Rocky Mountain News. I also bring a wealth of experience in the public relations and communications sectors, particularly with non-profits and foundations. Over the years, I’ve been lucky enough to have advocated for organizations like
| • | I spent 18 years in New York City but in 2006 traded in urban chaos for the grounding vistas of Colorado. I love my life in Denver! |
| • | In July 2009 I scaled my first 14’er, Mount Bierstadt, at 14,060 feet high. |
| • | I’m an unabashed foodie - I love to cook, bake and eat. I cook when I’m happy. I cook when I want to spend time with my children. I cook when my spirit needs healing. If you follow my blog, Vivid Living, I’m sure I’ll divulge a recipe or two. My secret desire is to host my own cooking show on The Food TV Network. |
| • | It's never too late to keep learning. I enrolled in graduate school at age forty-four and will earn my MFA in Creative Nonfiction from Goucher College in August 2012. |
| • | I take enormous pleasure in reading. The stack of magazines, newspapers, and books by my bed currently measures 23” high and growing. |

I live in Denver and am a member of the Lighthouse Writers Workshop.
